The Młynica Observation Tower – a Place You Must Visit When in Świeradów!

Świeradów-Zdrój is a town with no shortage of places to admire the magnificent panorama of the Izera Mountains. One of them is the Młynica observation tower. The facility was opened in 2022. Alongside spectacular visual impressions, you can count here on a simple, quick and convenient approach. Importantly, entry to the tower is free. And that is not the end of the attractions it offers!

The Młynica observation tower – the key facts

Built in 2021 and made available for use in 2022, the Młynica observation tower is one of the largest and entirely free attractions of Świeradów-Zdrój. The steel structure, 33.8 metres high, rises proudly on Młynica, one of the peaks of the High Ridge, measuring 653 m above sea level, which allows you to gain a magnificent view over the panorama of the Izera Mountains.

The highest viewing terrace of the Młynica tower is reached by a winding staircase, made of grating, with 148 steps. There are two terraces. The first is at a height of 15.5 metres, and the second at 23.7 metres. Tourists can also observe the beautiful landscapes using free observation telescopes, as well as a panoramic camera and a camera for observing the horizon.

The unique structure of the Młynica observation tower

Before the present facility was built, the town authorities had planned an observation tower in the shape of a centipede, 55 metres high. The subject of its construction came up back in 2014. That project did not succeed, and in place of the original proposal the present tower appeared, which it was possible to build and which cannot be denied an exceptional presence, given the mountain conditions.

The Młynica observation tower is distinguished by a very interesting structure, its style echoing the shape of a sail, which makes it an extraordinarily interesting object, standing out in the surrounding landscape. From a distance it looks as though it is travelling across the emerald waves of the Izera forests, heading boldly towards Świeradów-Zdrój itself, while the two viewing terraces, like crow's nests, allow you to explore the surrounding landscape. The vision of the tower's designer, Patrycja Sinki MSc Eng, fitted perfectly into the landscape of the Izera Mountains, creating something very original and beautiful.

The views from the Młynica tower in Świeradów-Zdrój

From the viewing platforms of the Młynica tower you can admire the beautiful panorama of Świeradów-Zdrój, the Izera Mountains and the Izera Foothills. Visible from it are peaks such as Opaleniec, Stóg Izerski and Sępia Góra. In the distance you can also make out Świeradów's second observation tower, the 62-metre Sky Walk. To make it easier to get your bearings in the terrain, plaques have been mounted on the railings describing the peaks and towns that can be observed in a given direction.

The Młynica observation tower – how to get there?

A simple road leads to the Młynica observation tower; unfortunately there is no marked trail there. The facility is located right next to the popular Single Track Zajęcznik cycling route, leading to Zajęcznik, another peak of the High Ridge. Near the tower there is also another great Świeradów attraction – the gondola lift to Stóg Izerski.

From the nearby car park at ul. Strażacka you can reach the tower in about 10 minutes. You just have to cross to the other side of the street and take the wide, unpaved road leading into the forest. We have a distance of just 350 metres to cover. The approach to the tower is simple and undemanding; children and older people will manage it successfully. In addition, along the way we will come across a covered bench and table where you can sit for a while.

The Młynica observation tower is a great attraction that is really easily accessible. It guarantees magnificent views and is itself an extraordinary structure, which adds an exceptional character both to the town and to the Izera Mountains. It is about 600 metres from the Izera Park apartments, so a short walk is all it takes to enjoy spectacular views!
