A characteristic feature of gondola lifts is the coupling and uncoupling of the gondola from the haul rope, which allows several dozen gondolas to move simultaneously. In practice this works as follows: on reaching the lower or upper station, the gondolas are slowed, uncoupled from the rope and directed onto a side track, which allows passengers to get out of them safely and comfortably.
The gondola lift in Świeradów-Zdrój was put into service in 2008. Its official opening took place at the beginning of 2009. Construction of the facility took a year, and it was carried out by the respected Austrian company Doppelmayr, a leader in the production of cableways and ski lifts. The result is a modern lift with 71 gondolas, capable of transporting 2,400 people per hour. A single gondola can carry a maximum of 8 people.
